Camp Director- Frank Mihalek
Frank is a retired police officer who lives in Greenfield with his son, John, who is a Life Scout. He was a camper at Wakpominee in the 1970’s while a scout in Troop 22 in Corinth. He achieved the rank of Life as a youth and was active in the OA, sealing his membership by completing his Brotherhood in 1973.
Frank became a registered adult when his nephew went through the program, and again with his son. Frank loves dogs and can be seen with his German Shepard, Erwin, at camp frequently.
Treks Director- Frank Winters
A geographer by training, Frank has a master’s degree in Geography from the University of Idaho. Frank earned his Eagle Scout while in a very active troop south of Syracuse creating a lifelong passion for the outdoors and for scouting. OA has been a family affair for the Winters. Frank completing his brotherhood at the same time as his oldest son Luke. At the same event his youngest son Colin completed his ordeal.
Luke and Colin, both eagle scouts, showed their commitment to Camp Wakpominee by serving as Waterfront Director, Mountain Bike Director, Trek Guide and Treks Director collectively. Frank is the president of a not-for-profit ski corporation, and mountain bike coach with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association coaching his bike team to a state championship in 2019.
Camp Ranger- Dan Krueger
Dan is married 46 years to his wife Cindy, who also runs the Camp Wakpominee trading post. They have 2 sons, Daniel & Charles who are both Eagle Scouts. Dan retired after 40 years as a logistics manager from Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville, NY all while operating a successful family diner with his wife. Dan is a FAA licensed pilot and a 25 year Advanced EMT with Granville Rescue Squad. Later he obtained his NYS Guides License and completed the ADK 46er.
Dan's Scouting career began in 1963 as a tenderfoot and earned his Eagle in 1968 with Explorer Post 46. Cubmaster from 1973-1978 Pack 6044 and Scoutmaster 1979-1985 and 1993-2005 for Granville troop 6044. Was the scoutmaster for the last Mohican Council contingent to the National Jamboree in 1997. Dan has toured and performed with a country band for many years and still loves to serenade the scouts with his guitar and banjo.
