Shooting Sports

Aim For a Good Time

The Shooting Sports program teaches Scouts marksmanship and the safe handling of firearms, under the careful supervision of a director trained and certified by BSA and the National Rifle Association.

Open shoot programs are available. There may also be opportunities for Scouts to attempt to qualify for merit badges.

By New York State law, a Scout must be at least 12 years old to fire a rifle or shotgun.

Personal firearms are not permitted at camp.

Due to the difficulty many smaller boys have to handle a shotgun, we strongly recommend that Scouts be at least 13 years old and physically and mentally mature before attempting Shotgun.
