Membership Fee Update

Membership & Training Update

Dear Scouts and Scouters,

The year has gotten off to a tremendous start at the Twin Rivers Council. Between the signing of a landmark conservation easement on Camp Wakpominee and Rotary Scout Reservation, the successful launch of our First Annual Chairty Golf Tournament, two awesome joint District Camporees, and the upcoming merger with Rip Van Winkle, 2025 will be a year of Scouting to remember.

We are writing to you to ask for your assistance in helping us grow our commitment to strengthening the Scouting experience across all our communities in Upstate New York. Specifically, we will be implementing a modest increase to our annual Program Fee, which will allow us to improve support to units by fully staffing our field team, including the important step of hiring a District Executive to serve both the Turning Point and Adirondack Districts, which have been without dedicated staff support.

Beginning August 1st, 2025, the Council Program Fee will move to $57 per youth and adult member. Looking ahead, we anticipate there may be an additional adjustment next year, effective August 1st, 2026, which could bring the total fee to no more than $65.

Please help us keep the program fees as low as possible by having your unit participate in this year’s Popcorn Kick Off on July 1st, where we’ll be sharing how you can fund a whole year of Scouting in just a single weekend!

We would like to kindly remind families that scholarships are available for both the National Membership Fee and the Council Program Fee, generously made possible through the support of the Council’s Executive Board. No Scout should ever miss out on our exceptional program due to financial need.

Additionally, in 2024 the Council had under 50% of its leaders trained. After a successful 2025 incentive, we now sit at 63%. Training is critical to the safety of our Scouts and the quality of our program. Every Scout deserves a trained leader, and to encourage more of our Scouters to complete their training, we are pleased to announce our 2026 Trained Leader Incentive. If your Unit achieves 85% training completion, your unit will receive a free weekend cabin rental at any Council Camp and an ice cream party for your Scouts, if your unit hits 95% you will also receive a $150 Council Scout Shop / Trading Post Credit. Remember to complete your training by June 1st, 2026 to qualify.

As always, Thank You for your continued dedication to Scouting and for helping us deliver life-changing experiences to the youth of our region.
