Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner

Scouting America event for a Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner on September 24, 2026, in Troy, NY.

Distinguished Citizen Award

The Distinguished Citizen Award honors individuals and organizations who demonstrate exceptional civic leadership and a deep commitment to serving youth in our community. While not all recipients are Scouting volunteers, each embodies the core values of Scouting, integrity, service, responsibility, and dedication to others, living out the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. We are proud to recognize Broadview Federal Credit Union and Maria College as this year’s honorees. Both organizations exemplify visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to strengthening the lives of young people across our region. As one of our Council’s premier fundraising events, this evening generates critical support for Scouting programs that serve more than 3,860 youth across a 15-county region. Notably, 47% of those we serve come from underserved communities, making your support essential to ensuring every young person has access to the leadership, character development, and life-changing experiences Scouting provides.
